Designregio Kortrijk & elderscollectief are joining forces for the Designers in Residence Kortrijk 2023! They invite 3 designers to work on the topic of “PHENOMENA”, an inquiry into the nature of reality. I created graphics to announce the call on their socials and website.
The Brief
...
The ConceptInspired by this year's 'Designers in Residence' theme, “Phenomena: an inquiry into the nature of reality”, these visuals revolve around the ever-changing nature of geometry. The sharp lines and curves of the geometry are put in direct parallel with the soft gradients and textures to add a touch that's true-to-nature.
The Process — StyleboardAfter having decided on a concept for this project, I put together a style and storyboard to sketch out a smooth and captivating flow for this animation. Seeing as these visuals were intended to be used on socials, I created a seamless loop that fits with the current popularity of Instagram Reels.
The Process — Style Frames & PostAfter creating some style frames for the graphics, I worked on a Lightroom preset for post-editing. This allowed the colors of these visuals to become much more cohesive and added a warm touch to the Open Call. I made use of PNG Sequences when animating to then quickly apply this preset onto the entire animation afterwards.
The Final ProductIt has been a delight working with DRK to create graphics and visuals for them. While this project was more of a short creativity burst, in comparison to longer projects I have done within my education, it was a great way to refine my After Effects skills and client communications.
